Smith Pond is a wonderful spot, easily accessible from the interstate (if you’re up for a hike) and almost completely undeveloped. It’s mid-elevation, but feels like it’s higher than it is, surrounded by conifers, with classic New Hampshire granite ledges leading into the water.
Launch + Parking
Smith Pond is hike-in only, no road access (unless you're the one lucky family that has a cabin on the pond). The easiest way up is from the trailhead on Smith Pond Road just off exit 15 on I-89. The trail in is about 1.25 miles / 1.9 km, with minimal elevation gain. Parking is limited, with space for about 6 vehicles.
