As of November 16, 2023, Long Pond Road is closed for the winter at both the north and the south ends. It’s about 2.5 miles / 4 km in from the northern gate and about 5.5 miles / 9 km in from the southern gate.

Long Pond is a scenic, undeveloped, and shallow body of water at medium elevation. It’s a bit of an effort to get to, but worth it.

Launches + Parking

There is only one way to access Long Pond: from the Long Pond Day Use Areadirections, which is managed by the USFS and has picnic tables, a boat ramp, and a reasonable amount of parking. During the winter the road in is closed to vehicle traffic, so getting there requires walking, skiing, or mountain biking.
